Combined Scientific Meeting 2009

We are pleased to announce for 2009 a Combined Scientific Meeting which marks the joining of the The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), (including the Faculty of Radiation Oncology (FRO)), The Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) and the Australasian College of Physical Scientists & Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM).
 
The organising committee are delighted to invite you to participate in and support this momentous meeting to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Brisbane Australia, 22-25 October 2009.

National Radiographers and Radiation Therapists Week (NRRTW) 2009

National Radiographers and Radiation Therapists Week (NRRTW) commences on Monday November the 2nd, culminating in World Radiography Day on Sunday November the 8th.The AIR is pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Philips again in 2009 to help you celebrate this week.

All departments are encouraged to order posters, badges, balloons and pens free of charge, decorate your department and yourselves. Make sure you get your order in early, download a promotional materials request form.

AIR Fellowship Review - We need your help

As a quality improvement process the AIR Fellowship panel is undertaking an extensive review of the Fellowship and its administrative processes. During the review the panel has looked at the pathways in which members achieve Fellowship, and notes that the point's accrual option is the most popular. The Fellowship panel is considering the discontinuation of the availability of the Examination and Thesis options and is seeking feedback from AIR members.

AIR Research and International Travel Scholarships 2009

International Travel Scholarship 2009

The AIR would like to invite all interested members to apply for the 2009 International Travel Scholarships. The aim of the scholarships is to encourage Medical Radiation Science practitioners to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge whilst providing international networking opportunities.

Two scholarships of $5000.00 each are available to ordinary members of the AIR, one in Diagnostic Imaging and one in Radiation Therapy.

Two scholarships of $3500.00 each are available for provisional members of the AIR, one in Diagnostic Imaging and one in Radiation Therapy.

Successful applicants are encouraged upon their return to Australia to contribute to the profession and share their experiences. Click here to review articles outlining the experiences of previous recipients.

Research Scholarship 2009
The AIR through the Professional Accreditation and Education Board (PAEB) are again in 2009 offering 2 research scholarships to enhance the research base within Medical Radiation Science.

Each research grant will be for a maximum of $5000.00. One will be offered in the diagnostic radiography and one in radiation therapy. The grants are designed to help members develop research projects that will directly benefit patients.

The PAEB invites AIR members to apply for the grants. The successful candidate will be expected to publish the outcome of their work in an AIR publication and to present at the Annual Scientific Meeting of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMMIRT).

Closing date for applications is Friday October 2nd 2009. The successful applicants will be notified by mail early in 2010 and an announcement published in Spectrum in February.

The AIR negotiates special discounted rates with a variety of organisations so as to offer loyalty benefits to our membership.

Currently we have such programmes in place with the following;

1.    Hertz - As a member of the AIR you will be entitled to free #1 Club Gold Membership in addition to existing discount rental rates.

2.    Corporate Qantas Club Membership - As a member of the AIR you will be entitled to a $200.00 discount on your Qantas Club Membership fee, and also automatic membership of the Frequent Flyer Programme, saving a further $82 per year.  

3.    Volkswagon - As a member of the AIR you will be entitled to significant discounts off the purchase of a new vehicle.
