Annual General Meeting: Notice of Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the 65th Annual General Meeting of the Australian Institute of Radiography will be held at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute on Saturday 5th April 2014 commencing at 2.00pm.

Proxy forms must be in the hands of the Chief Executive not less than 48 hours prior to the commencement of the AGM.

Notice - PAEB Vacancies

An invitation is extended to a Diagnostic Radiographer or Radiation Therapist and a Medical Radiation Science academic interested in joining the AIR Professional Accreditation and Education Board (PAEB). Two vacancies currently exist.

Interested applicants for the Diagnostic Radiographer or Radiation Therapist position will need to address the following criteria:

  • Current financial member of the Australian Institute of Radiography
  • Extensive clinical experience in Australian Medical Imaging or Radiation Therapy
  • Available to travel to Melbourne up to three times per year
  • Able to devote approximately four hours per week for PAEB business
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliability and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Interested applicants for the Medical Radiation Science academic position will need to address the following criteria:

  • Current financial member of the Australian Institute of Radiography
  • Current or recent academic experience at senior lecturer level or higher in Medical Radiation Science
  • Clinical experience in Australian Medical Imaging or Radiation Therapy
  • Available to travel to Melbourne up to three times per year and for accreditation visits up to two times per year
  • Able to devote approximately four hours per week for PAEB business
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliability and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.

Workforce Sustainability in Radiation Oncology Survey

Radiation Oncology Workforce Western Australia                                                Curtin University 

Radiation Therapists and Radiation Oncology Medical Physicists who are currently working in Australia, or who have ever worked in Australia in the past.

You are invited to complete a survey to explore workforce sustainability and investigate the workforce patterns and issues surrounding two key radiation oncology professions in WA and Australia-wide.

Respondents will receive a certificate to confirm their participation in this activity for CPD purposes (one hour activity) and completed surveys will be entered in a prize draw for ten (10) fifty dollar ($50.00) Coles Group & Myer vouchers, subject to the competition Terms & Conditions.

The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.

Call for Abstracts - AAMD 39th Annual Meeting, 1-5 June 2014, Seattle

The American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) Annual Conference Committee is currently accepting abstracts for general education sessions, panel discussions, pre-event workshops, and poster displays for the AAMD 39th Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington, USA. The meeting will be at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, 1-5 June 2014 with pre-conference workshops on 30 and 31 May.

This year, we are trying something new. We are focusing on a particular body area for the morning sessions each day. Our goal is to provide attendees with tips and tricks, case studies and information they can use in their clinic. Here is how we are planning the agenda:

  • Sunday: Head and Neck
  • Monday: Thorax
  • Tuesday: Breast
  • Wednesday: Abdomen
  • Thursday: Pelvis

Other topics of interest for this meeting are:

  • General Interest - New Technologies, Reviews, Professional Development, Tips and Tricks
  • Back to Basics Clinical Anatomy and Contouring

General session, panel discussion and workshop abstracts must be submitted online by 17 November 2013.
