MedRad Forum 2015
Posted 23rd December 2014

In 2015, the inaugural MedRad Forum will be launched at the Menzies Hotel on Saturday 14 March. The concept behind this forum is to encourage practitioners undertaking research to present their material and findings to their peers. As it becomes more challenging to attend the plethora of CPD events on the calendar, the MedRad Forum seeks to encourage researchers to present and have the ability to share their research on a wider scale. There are many medical imaging and radiation therapy practitioners that are involved in quality research initiatives which have direct benefits for the patients attending for imaging and treatment. This forum will also encourage sharing and collaboration between clinical centres.

This forum will demonstrate research from practitioners at all stages of their career, commencing from those studying at university all the way to research that will benefit patients and professionals alike. The Agfa Healthcare Diagnostic Poster Prize winners will present on their topic Paediatric Foreign Body Aspiration Matrix. Jenna Dean will be discussing how her centre undertook clinical implementation of inverse-planned tangential breast IMRT, whilst Karolina Soprun will discuss the feasibility of using fiducial markers in current radiotherapy practice in patients with prostate cancer - a systematic review. From an education perspective, Pete Bridge and his co-authors will be discussing the results of a census of radiotherapy practice in Australia.

These just a few of the topics being showcased at this forum, with many more topics on a variety of clinical practice and research of interest in the Medical Radiation Science space. Much of the research being presented represents the exciting potential of the future and how the MRS community can adapt these ideas into daily practice.
