Current work by the Board and Panels
Posted 21st September 2017

There are a number of papers and draft reports under review by the Board and Panels, who will then provide comment and advice to government. These include:

1. Submission to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee Inquiry into the Availability and Accessibility of Diagnostic Imaging Equipment around Australia. On 17 August 2017, the Senate referred the above matter to the Community Affairs References Committee for inquiry and report by 5 December 2017. The full terms of reference are:

    a) geographic and other disparities in access to diagnostic imaging equipment
    b) arrangements for commonwealth subsidy of diagnostic imaging equipment and services
    c) out-of-pocket costs for services that are not subsidised by the commonwealth and the impact of these on patients, and
    d) the respective roles of the commonwealth, states and other funders in ensuring access to diagnostic imaging services.

2. Optimal care pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer.

3. Accreditation Review Draft Report.

Work of this type comes in throughout the year and the feedback provided by ASMIRT goes into the mix to improve services to the public and enables members to work to the full extent of their scope of practice.

Sunday 17 September saw 106 candidates sit their exams for MRI, CT, Angio (cardiac) and Angio (vascular) in 22 different exam sites around Australia – and indeed the world!

Particular thanks go to our wonderful invigilators who gave up their Sunday to ensure the exams ran smoothly and that candidates had as stress free an environment as possible in which to complete them.
