Expert committees and reference groups

Expert committees and reference groups

ASMIRT has committees and reference groups that provide expert assistance to the Board of Directors in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Committees and reference groups:

  • Advise the Board of Directors on matters pertaining to areas of specialist expertise
  • Recommend and draft policies, position statements and guidelines
  • When requested, make recommendations to the Board related to a particular discipline or specialist area
  • Liaise with other reference groups and committees on matters of mutual interest
  • Develop new and review existing guidelines/terms of reference specific to their particular area of expertise

Committee and reference group structure

There are four Lead Committees responsible to the Board. The Committees represent areas of focus for the ASMIRT strategic plan.

The Committees oversee a range of Reference Groups that report to one or more Committees, with the aim of the Groups being as inclusive and broad as possible.

Three expert Panels provide their knowledge and expertise, informing the Board on specific issues.

Working Parties are assembled to address a specific issue. They may come together for a week, a month, or a year, depending on the issue being addressed.

This structure allows members to participate on a number of different levels, reflecting their particular interests, and suiting their availability.
