JMRS Peer Review Seminar Series Part 4

Publication ethics is about more than plagiarism

Tuesday 1 October 2024 | Online

This webinar will explore ethical considerations and pitfalls in scientific publishing for authors and reviewers. This will include author copyright responsibilities, the difference between authorship and acknowledgment, common ethical issues that arise in scholarly publication and best practice in diversity, equity and inclusion.

Hear from our guest speakers Simon Goudie and Lilly O’Scanaill

Simon is an accomplished Publisher with over 20 years of experience in production and editorial environments. Based out of Wiley’s Melbourne office, he collaborates extensively with learned societies, professional organisations and Colleges throughout the Asia-Pacific region to successfully manage an extensive portfolio of social and health science journal titles. His work and partnerships with authors, editors and clients ensure that these titles remain relevant, well-read, highly-cited and sustainable.

Lilly is an Inclusion & Belonging Manager at Wiley, and drives internal and external diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and policies for the Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East, and Africa. She is a co-lead on Wiley’s Research and Learning DE&I Council, a global cross-business group that reviews and develops policies, resources, and training to meet the diverse needs of our research, higher education, trade publishing, and other communities.

With a background in anthropology and sociology, Lilly previously worked in Editorial and Marketing for Wiley’s ANZ and Southeast Asia journal portfolio. She has led initiatives focused on research inclusivity and equity in collaboration with Wiley colleagues, Editors, Society partners, and researchers, and is passionate about Indigenous leadership and self-determination in research and ‘localising’ DE&I efforts.
