Kym Barry
Kym Barry is a Nuclear Medicine lecturer at Charles Sturt University on the Port Macquarie campus. Since commencing at the university in 2016, Kym has taught to students from all years and disciplines across the medical radiation sciences program, with one of her core roles being clinical coordination for nuclear medicine students. Kym is currently a PhD candidate exploring clinical placement experiences in nuclear medicine.
Maddy Bowers
Maddy Bowers is an experienced emergency and critical care nurse. She served as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital Emergency Department where she worked across the department as senior triage, trauma and resuscitation nurse and the resuscitation team leader. Her expertise includes high-acuity leadership, complex patient management, and mentoring early career nurses. Now an Associate Lecturer in Nursing at Charles Sturt University, Maddy is a passionate educator dedicated to creating authentic, high-impact simulation experiences. She leads third-year nursing students in building advanced clinical skills, with a strong focus on recognising and managing patient deterioration in acute care settings.
Elizabeth Brown
Dr Elizabeth Brown is the Assistant Director for Radiation Therapy – Treatment at Radiation Oncology Princess Alexandra Hospital. She completed her PhD at the Queensland University of Technology in 2016 on adaptive radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. She has a keen interest in promoting research amongst Radiation Therapists and is the current chair of the ASMIRT Research Committee. Her research interests include head and neck cancer, image guided radiation therapy and improving patient experiences of treatment. In her spare time, Elizabeth loves baking, especially anything involving chocolate!
Tony Buxton
Tony Buxton qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 1978 and worked as a locum before settling at Royal Newcastle Hospital working as a Senior Radiographer, primarily in CT. He was appointed the first academic radiographer in 1988 at the now University of Newcastle, taking the role of Senior Lecturer for 28 years. Tony was heavily involved in developing ethical design for research projects and was Deputy Chair of the UoN Human Research Ethics Committee for many years. Since “retiring” in 2016, Tony has provided radiography education to chiropractors at Macquarie University and radiography input into the Mortuary Technician degree program at Western Sydney University, the occasional locum and is now a full-time forensic radiographer.
