Fixed vacancy for 12 months in Darwin, Northern Territory

NT Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will assist in the production and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals and receive hands-on training in single photon nuclear medicine, Positron Emission Tomography, and performing all aspects of nuclear medicine procedures in the Molecular Imaging Department of the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH).

The leadership role will include the ability to co-ordinate, manage and provide clinical oversight for nuclear medicine services at Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals (RDPH) and contribute to the continual improvement of this service. This role works within and provides leadership for other technologists in single photon nuclear medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET), including radiopharmaceutical production and Quality Control (QC).

Working with a team of medical professionals and modern equipment, you will advance a team to develop sound knowledge and experience in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography nuclear medicine (SPECT/CT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and radiopharmaceutical production and quality control involving the cyclotron.

To be successful you require tertiary qualifications in Medical Radiation Science (Nuclear Medicine), which allows eligibility for registration as a Nuclear Medicine Practitioner with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia. A drive to develop experience leading a team in  general nuclear medicine and PET procedures and the ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, stakeholders and staff from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

You should also demonstrate interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for professional practice, and interest in further training within the medical imaging team.
