Breast cancer may be detected earlier in South Australia, for people with dense breast tissue or high breast cancer risk.
The use of a contrast dye during a mammogram, known as Contrast-enhanced Mammography (CEM), enhances the capacity to detect cancer.
With CEM already available in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, ASMIRT Acting CEO Min Ku says it is excellent to see this potentially lifesaving technique now available in Adelaide.
“Technology that can improve diagnostic accuracy in cancer detection and tumour visualisation represents better quality outcomes for patients,” she says.
“ASMIRT are delighted that this technology has become available for South Australians.”
Meredith Kessell, Supervising Radiographer of the Breast Clinic and the Royal Perth Hospital will speak on the topic Introduction to Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM) at ASMIRT’s Adelaide Masterclass, on Saturday the 10th of August.
