How many people know that radiographers in Australia undertake 30 million diagnostic imaging services each year?
Or that radiation therapists provide radiation therapy to one in three Australian cancer patients?
National Radiographers and Radiation Therapists’ Week (4-10 November 2024) is an opportunity to raise awareness of the important work medical radiation practitioners undertake every day. This year’s theme is An Essential Part of Your Health Journey. Celebration Packs are available to order from the NRRTW website, with the merchandise inside designed to be conversation-starters.
The size of each Celebration Pack is tailored to the department or workplace that orders it. Department heads only are invited to order a Pack for their workplace, with a list of those who have already ordered available to prevent double-ups.
Along with the usual posters, calendars, balloons, and infographics, this year’s packs include resin badges you can stick on your name badge. These high quality, permanent, badges say ‘ASMIRT Member’ and are a mark of your dedication to the profession.
The packs also contain retractable ID card holders for your work ID card.
Digital items such as email banners, social media tiles and a Zoom background are available on the NRRTW website for download.
NRRTW is an ASMIRT initiative to recognise and celebrate radiographers and radiation therapists in Australia.
NRRTW encompasses World Radiography Day on November 8 – itself initiated by the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT). November 8 is the anniversary of Wilhelm Röntgen’s 1895 discovery of using electromagnetic radiation to create what we now know as the X-ray.
