CPD options

ASMIRT is committed to delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD). We aim to develop and maintain professional competency, provide relevant and affordable education, and improve the skills and knowledge of all Medical Radiation Practitioners (MRPs).

ASMIRT provides the most comprehensive CPD for MRPs in Australia, from innovative education content, events, certification career pathways, to advanced practice, and fellowship.

Workplaces commonly require practitioners to hold Certification to undertake modalities such as CT or MRI.

CPD events

ASMIRT provides more than 65 CPD events per year. The events, which range from in-person to online or hybrid, are held across the country and span a full range of topics. The events are organised as a collaboration between the ASMIRT State Branches and the Secretariat and meet the needs of recent graduates through to experienced practitioners.

ASMIRT CPD ONLINE – Wherever, Whenever

ASMIRT CPD ONLINE is a compilation of thousands of hours of recorded CPD at no or low cost brought to you by ASMIRT negotiated relationships with the best CPD providers in Australia and abroad.

With the flexibility to log in to the platform at a time that suits you, and education from providers such as the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), ESTRo, eIntegrity, and DetectedX, this is a great member benefit.

Access to ASMIRT CPD ONLINE is available through our member portal.

National conference

The ASMIRT national conference is the largest Medical Radiation Practitioner CPD event in Australasia.  The conference regularly attracts more than 800 delegates, and provides participants with hundreds of hours of CPD.

Conference presentations are available to attendees online for a full 12 months post the conference, as part of the conference package.

For Members and MRPs not able to attend the conference, presentations are available for purchase and can be viewed until the next conference. The recordings add to your self-learning CPD.

My CPD portal

ASMIRT members, participants of Corporate and CPD Subscribers have access to the ASMIRT My CPD portal to lodge CPD activities.

Log in to the ASMIRT member portal and click My CPD in the main navigation panel. Use the My CPD portal to access the ASMIRT CPD Guidelines, Quick Guide on how to lodge CPD, examples on how to accrue CPD, and CPD Activity List.

For assistance, view the Frequently Asked Questions, or contact the CPD Team at cpd@asmirt.org or call 03 9419 3336.

Mandatory CPD requirements

The Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (MRPBA) sets the CPD regulatory standard for Medical Radiation Practitioners.

The MPRBA also audits CPD compliance as mandated under national law. We recommend all MRPs familiarise themselves with the current CPD registration standard.

Extended leave & Ahpra CPD exemption

You may be eligible for a partial exemption if you are unable to meet the MRPBA/Aphra CPD registration standard due to special circumstances such as maternity leave or extended leave from work due to injury, illness, or family reasons.

Visit the Ahpra website to apply for a partial exemption from CPD. Aphra will not consider full exemptions. We strongly recommend that this application is submitted in advance where dates of extended leave are known.

Call Aphra on 1300 419 495 for more information or to discuss your personal circumstances.
