RadPod episode 3: The evolution of Radiation Therapy

30 June 2025

What did radiation therapy look like 40 years ago? As technology evolves over the years, so too does the standard of healthcare. In this episode, host Steve Lacey speaks with experienced radiation therapist, Marita Lawlor, and newly qualified radiation therapist Gabriella Leo.

Marita shares the changes she's experienced since she qualified in the 80s, from simulation and planning to immobilisation and image guidance. Gabriella reacts to how RT used to be, and shares how she's finding the field so far.

Listen till the end to hear about Marita's "best day at work", a special experience that reminds her why she became a radiation therapist in the first place.

It's time to reminisce about isodose charts, wedge filters and paid clinical placement!
