ASMIRT and the International Society of Magnetic Resonance Technologists have released a joint position statement on the use of MRI in Australia.

ASMIRT and the ISMRT (Australian National Chapter) seek to address a loophole in regulations that allow non-medical radiation practitioners to operate MRIs.

The position statement aligns with RANZCR’s guidelines on use of MRI and practice in comparable international jurisdictions.

ASMIRT will proactively work with the relevant government and non-government stakeholders to bring the operation of MRI under the sole practice of Ahpra registered radiographers.
