This year on September 7, the international medical radiation sciences community will celebrate World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (WRAD) for the very first time. WRAD is a day dedicated to the essential role of radiation therapy in treating cancer, relieving symptoms, and improving quality of life for patients.
"One Voice for Radiotherapy" is the day's theme for the next three years, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary teams working together in cancer care.
WRAD was created by an international committee of radiation and clinical oncology professionals, patients, and campaigners; with input from radiation therapy societies and organisations from all over the world.
You can keep up with the latest WRAD announcements via the WRAD website, and follow our updates and activities in the lead up to the day.
To celebrate WRAD on 7 September, ASMIRT is putting together a short video and inviting RTs to contribute by sharing a short 15-second video message. It’s quick and easy – you can film it on your phone, and we’ve included simple instructions and examples in the registration link.
Register your interest and submit your video by 22 Aug: https://forms.gle/ZEw52GAxpDoxTiedA
ASMIRT's finished WRAD video will look something like this:
