Robert George, retired radiographer and former ASMIRT President, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medicine as a diagnostic radiographer.
Recognised in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours, Robert began his career at Jones Radiology South Australia in 1966 and eventually worked his way up to Clinical Operations Manager. Outside of the clinic, he undertook a range of roles within professional bodies, including presidency of both ASMIRT and the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT). Robert is also a much-loved father of two children, who themselves pursued careers in radiography.

The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated exceptional service or outstanding achievement. The Office of the Governor General manages the awards, and announces recipients on January 26 and on the King's Birthday.
There are four different types of Order of Australia award. Robert George's award entitles him to use the post-nominal AM at the end of his name.
