Lung Cancer Screening Program Resources and Education Available

10 September 2025

Lung cancer is Australia’s leading cause of cancer-related death, with most lung cancers detected at late stages when symptoms are present.

The new National Lung Cancer Screening program aims to improve health outcomes by providing free low-dose CT scans every two years to Australians at higher risk due to their age and smoking history. By finding lung cancers earlier, the program is expected to save hundreds of lives every year.

Radiographers play a critical role in the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. To support you to deliver the program, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists has developed a suite of resources and modules for the radiology sector. This includes low-dose CT acquisition guidelines and information on the online tools and processes needed to deliver the program.

You can access additional information, education and resources for healthcare providers on the program healthcare provider toolkit.
