Anne Connell and Rob Davidson have been awarded Life Membership at the opening ceremony of ASMIRT 2024, in Darwin.
Life membership is awarded to retired members in recognition of the significant contribution they have made to ASMIRT during their professional working life.
Anne Connell is a retired radiographer who specialised in paediatric imaging. She began her radiography career in Scotland before emigrating to Australia in 1991. In the same year, Anne was employed by the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, eventually rising through the ranks to become Senior Radiographer and Deputy Unit Manager.
An enthusiastic member, Anne has presented countless continuing education seminars and conference presentations on practical paediatric imaging, to encourage others to provide quality paediatric services in their departments. In March 2022, Anne retired from paediatric radiography to spend more time with her family.
Rob Davidson is a retired radiographer and professor. Completing his Medical Imaging PhD in 2006, Rob held roles as Senior Lecturer and Professor at Charles Sturt University (CSU), and Associate Professor at RMIT and Curtin University. More recently, Rob held the position of Professor in Medical Imaging at the University of Canberra, where he established the Medical Imaging and Ultrasound courses in 2015.
Rob was Editor in Chief of The Radiographer, the then journal of the Australian Institute of Radiography and is currently on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences. Rob has been a member of ASMIRT since 1976, and contributed to the Victorian State Branch, the South Australian Professional Accreditation and Education Committee, three annual scientific meetings on the organising committees and many course accreditations.
Congratulations Anne and Rob, and thank you for your contributions to ASMIRT over many years.
