Feedback from RadPod listeners has been "very positive", with listeners appreciating the first episode's openness and honesty, host Steve Lacey told Aunt Minnie. The radiology news site published an article about the podcast's launch and listener feedback.
“People are saying it really resonated with them,” Steve said about the reception the first episode has received.
“In particular, they appreciated the honesty from (guests) Karim and Jarrod, and their willingness to talk about their lived experience as patients.”
Titled "Sitting on both sides of the fence" the episode features conversations with radiographer Karim Yacoub and radiation therapist Jarrod Prohasky, who share how their childhood experiences as patients influenced their career choice and how they practice to this day.

Radiographer Karim Yacoub ‘s patient journey started in early childhood, when he was diagnosed with cystinosis, a rare genetic condition. Undergoing two kidney transplants in his youth, he still remembers the words and actions of healthcare workers who cared for him to this day. His says his experiences caused him to be more empathetic and understanding, not only towards patients, but also with students he supports as a placement coordinator and university lecturer in medical imaging.
For Radiation Therapist Jarrod Prohasky, a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 16 saw him spend only about ten days at home for the next nine months, with the rest spent in isolation rooms at the local children’s hospital. A few years later, he felt a calling to give back to cancer patients, and switched his university studies to radiation therapy. He says his own experience with cancer resulted in his strong focus on ensuring each patient receives “the best care possible”.
ASMIRT is receiving a lot of interest in future episodes, with members suggesting topic ideas and asking to be guests on the show.
