Have your say on the new medical imaging accreditation scheme

20 May 2025

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has developed the Australian Safety and Quality Medical Imaging Accreditation (ASQMIA) Scheme. Under the ASQMIA Scheme, medical imaging providers will be assessed against the National Safety and Quality Medical Imaging Standards. The ASQMIA Scheme will replace the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS).

Consultation is now open on the new ASQMIA Scheme. The Commission welcomes feedback on the following areas:

  1. Clarification: Does any of the content of the ASQMIA Scheme need clarification?
  2. Appropriateness: Is the categorising of imaging practices, by risk appropriate?
  3. Safety and quality: In comparison to the DIAS desktop assessment, will the ASQMIA scheme improve medical imaging safety and quality?
  4. Infrastructure: Does your organisation have the IT infrastructure to complete a virtual assessment?
  5. Concerns: Do you have any concerns or other feedback about the ASQMIA scheme?

Visit the Commission’s website to complete a survey, make a submission or register to participate in a focus group by 18 July 2025.
