Our trainer, Scott Cooper is is a registered paramedic and non-practicing radiographer, with extensive experience dealing with anaphylactic reactions and treatment, as well as training fellow MRPs.
The objective of this Anaphylaxis recognition and management training is to educate participants such that they can:
- Confidently and rapidly identify and recognise an anaphylactic reaction.
- Have the knowledge, competence, and confidence to safely manage an anaphylactic reaction in line with contemporary and nationally recognised treatment pathways.
- Be proficient in both Adrenaline auto injector use and the intramuscular administration of adrenaline that has been drawn up from vials of Adrenaline 1mg in 1ml (1:1,000)
- Increase their awareness of Crisis Resource Management (CRM) principles and their importance in improving the quality and safe delivery of healthcare when responding to a critical incident.
- Apply CRM principles to identify and prevent circumstances that put patients at risk of harm when working as an individual or as part of a team responding to anaphylaxis.
- Perform a basic vital sign survey to both assist in the recognition and management of anaphylaxis and to assess the effectiveness of any treatment.
- Increase overall patient safety and reduce liability of both the participant and their employer.
