Masterclass – Adelaide

Saturday 10 August 2024 | In Person

This all-day event at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, in Hahndorf South Australia, consists of morning and afternoon sessions:

In the morning: Your choice of a Person-Centered Care Workshop OR Anaphylaxis Workshop
In the afternoon: FREE Masterclass Session

Person-Centered Care (PCC) Workshop – members only session

We invite ASMIRT member practitioners to join our person-centered care trainers, as they empower delegates to share stories of exceptional self, peer and patient care, as well as participate in a number of simulated experiences aimed at reconnecting them with the vulnerability experienced by their patients.

The workshop will also address self-care and care for teammates.

What will delegates learn from this workshop?

  • A greater awareness of patient experiences and how these can be challenging
  • The importance of and links between self-care, care for peers and patient care.
  • How other participants look after themselves and their colleagues, as well as their patients.
  • Strategies for overcoming barriers to person-centered care.

This workshop is an ASMIRT member benefit for ASMIRT members who would like to celebrate or re-connect with the reason they chose their profession: to help people!

Time: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (ACST)
Venue: Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, Hahndorf South Australia

*Registration desk opens at 9.00 am

Registration for the PCC workshop is available for ASMIRT members only.

Anaphylaxis Recognition and Management Workshop

This workshop is open to all medical radiation practitioners, both members and non-members. Our trainer, Scott Cooper is is a registered paramedic and non-practicing radiographer, with extensive experience dealing with anaphylactic reactions and treatment, as well as training fellow MRPs.

The objective of this Anaphylaxis recognition and management training is to educate participants such that they can:

  • Confidently and rapidly identify and recognise an anaphylactic reaction.
  • Have the knowledge, competence, and confidence to safely manage an anaphylactic reaction in line with contemporary and nationally recognised treatment pathways.
  • Be proficient in both Adrenaline auto injector use and the intramuscular administration of adrenaline that has been drawn up from vials of Adrenaline 1mg in 1ml (1:1,000)
  • Increase their awareness of Crisis Resource Management (CRM) principles and their importance in improving the quality and safe delivery of healthcare when responding to a critical incident.
  • Apply CRM principles to identify and prevent circumstances that put patients at risk of harm when working as an individual or as part of a team responding to anaphylaxis.
  • Perform a basic vital sign survey to both assist in the recognition and management of anaphylaxis and to assess the effectiveness of any treatment.
  • Increase overall patient safety and reduce liability of both the participant and their employer.
