Karen Dobeli, Goran Obradovic, Adam Steward are 2025's Nicholas Outterside Medallion winners. ASMIRT President Carolyn Heyes presented the awards at the ASMIRT/NZIMRT 2025 Opening Ceremony.
Medallion winners are put forward by their State Branch for a member who has contributed significantly to the Society and its Members over many years. They may have been involved in training, or in the development and publication of outstanding original techniques or research or made remarkable achievements or contributions to the art and science of medical imaging or radiation therapy.
Karen Dobeli began her career as a cadet radiographer at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in 1986 and graduated with a Diploma of Applied Science in Diagnostic Radiography with Distinction from QUT in 1988. She has continued in employment at Royal Brisbane and Womens’ Hospital for many years and now holds the position of s the Radiographer Research and Service Improvement Lead, following a lengthy period as a Radiographer Consultant and team leader in Computed Tomography (CT).
Goran Obradovic graduated from Curtin University with Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography in 1984, converting it to a degree in 1998. He commenced his career as a relieving radiographer for the WA Health Department progressing to senior MIT Theatre Radiographer and his current position of Senior Medical Imaging Technologist (Supervising DSA) at the Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Adam Steward’s radiography career commenced in 1994 when he completed his medical radiation science program at RMIT. Adam has worked at Western Health since 1995 holding various positions as a supervisor radiographer in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, General Radiography & Fluoroscopy. His most current position is as tutor radiographer, a position he has held since 2009.
