Each year ASMIRT offers more than $100,000 in competitive scholarships to members. The fundamental aim of ASMIRT scholarships are to support members while undertaking personal and professional development activities.
Dorothy Lorimer Bursary
This bursary – of up to $50,000 – is an opportunity for an ASMIRT member to travel overseas and bring back substantive international knowledge to enhance Australian practice.
This scholarship supports medical radiation practitioners to undertake postgraduate study to enhance skills and further develop knowledge within their discipline of practice. Different amounts are available depending on the level of study.
Each year four International Travel Scholarships are awarded to ASMIRT members. Two Early Career scholarships are offered for $5,000, one in diagnostic imaging/nuclear medicine and one in radiation therapy. Two $5,000 scholarships are offered to Voting Members, one in diagnostic imaging/nuclear medicine and one in radiation therapy.
The scholarship aims to help members experience medical radiation science on an international stage, such as attendance at an international conference, participation in an international training program or undertaking a small study tour.
ASMIRT offers research grants of up to $10,000 each to enhance the research base within Medical Radiation Science.
ASMIRT awards a maximum of two research grants per year in the fields of medical imaging and radiation therapy. The grants are designed to encourage researchers to develop projects that add to the body of knowledge within the Medical Radiation Sciences.
We also offer a Novice Researcher Grant for up to $5,000, specifically for Medical Radiation Science professionals new to research.
The Rural Clinical Placement Scheme provides two grants per calendar year for each university that offers approved undergraduate Medical Radiation Science programs in medical imaging and radiation therapy. Additional grants may be awarded to states where additional applications have been received.
Each $1000 grant can be used by the recipient for necessary travel and accommodation. The grant aims to support and promote rural health initiatives.
Applications should be made as soon as possible in each academic year.
